How to Choose a Wedding Caterer

wedding caterers suffolk Your food is such an integral part of the wedding, choosing both your style of food and presentation is so important,  you need to be sure it’s in the hands of someone you can trust.

Our Suffolk based family business, Bizzibeans catering has been catering for weddings for a number of years now so here are our best tips to help choose the right caterer, plus some frequently asked questions to ask when making your decision.

Spend

Your Budget is probably top of your agenda to consider. Setting an affordable and realistic spend will largely determine the type of wedding to create, understanding this before you speak to a caterer is sensible practice. But also plan each element of the day so you can maximise your budget.

Relaxed or Formal?

You will need to determine what level of catering you require. Is it food only, ie a relaxed style buffet, or maybe  a sit down formal meal, or even a wedding planner to organise the whole thing. At Bizzibeans we specialise in BBQ Weddings in a relaxed style, which can be in a Marquee, Village Hall, or your back garden!

Venue

There are a lot of new Wedding reception venue’s available to the Bride  & Groom today, from a Barn to a Stately home. Be advised some venue’s may insist on using a caterer they allready work with. Should you wish to use your own preferred caterer ask if they would be prepared to permit a caterer of your choice.

It’s very much a personal choice, you may wish to choose something less conventional. Bizzibeans have lots of experience of catering within unusual remote locations, which may well have an important or romantic connection for you. Speak with your caterer about this.

The Food

Tasting your selected menu before booking will give you the confidence with your decision, it gives you the opportunity to get to know the Caterer first hand. You can also ask those the important questions. Here are our top questions for your caterer.

What can you do for guests with food allergies?

Is your food locally and ethically sourced?

Will the food be cooked on site or brought in?

How many weddings will you cater for that day.

How flexible is the menu?

What is included?

At Bizzibeans we hold regular Tasting days where you can sit with us on a one to one basis for an informal chat and tasting.

Recommendations

Always ask for recommendation’s from family’s, friends or colleague’s, or if your attending a wedding and you enjoyed the experience ask for a card. As professional outside caterers we’re more than happy to provide details of previous clients so that you can find out how we performed.

A good recommendation is essential, like this one  ”

We would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all your help in catering for our wedding.  After our booked caterers dropped out at 3pm the day before, we were resigned to the thought that we might not find anyone at all to fill in.  Bizzibeans certainly came to our rescue! What you provided was simply jaw dropping – we were just blown away by the amazing feast that you prepared for us.  We would have been over the moon if you had prepared such delicious food within normal timescales, but having done so in such short notice was just incredible.  We have received so many complements from our guests about how much they enjoyed the food and I think that was more than evident from the standing ovation they gave you and your team on the day!
In addition to the quality of the food itself, I can truly say it has been an absolute pleasure to deal with you.  From the moment we contacted you in a panic your friendly, calm and ‘can do’ attitude immediately put our minds at rest and we knew we were in capable hands, allowing us to get on and enjoy our day. Thank you so very much from Mr and Mrs Collins!

When to book?

At Bizzibeans we have had to work at short notice, including the day before! But it’s not recommended! It is less stressful for you to book your venue well in advance, particularly if you are choosing a popular time of the year, to ensure you get your choice of date. A deposit of £100 at the time of booking is all that is required.

There’s a lot to think about, but hopefully these pointer’s will assist you in planning your big day, if you would like any further info or have questions we haven’t covered just pick up the phone, on 01787 281027, we’d love to help.
